A Low Country Wedding @ The Creek Club at Ion:

We’re less than three weeks away from the big day, but before we leave for Charleston & Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, I wanted to show you where it all started with our decision to host the wedding at the Creek Club at Ion.Post our engagement that took place in Charleston last summer, I took A LOT of photos of the Creek Club at Ion while scouting wedding venues during a return trip with my mom, sister, mamaw and one of my bridesmaids last fall.  Then I took some more photos last April when Kevin and I went back so I could run the Cooper River 10K and schedule our tasting at the same time.  The reason I wanted so many photos though, was because as I prepared for decorations and all these crazy DIY projects that I have Kevin running around town to help me with… It was awesome for me to have a visual of the venue from top to bottom (and yes – that even includes the bathrooms!).  So this is just warning that if some of the photos look like they were taken during different times of the year… they were!

Also, during the ladies trip, we actually got to see a real live wedding planner doing her thang as she prepared for a wedding that evening… hence why some of the photos have tables and chairs while others look dry as a bone!

The Creek Club at Ion rental actually comes with seven rocking chairs to use on the porch. If that isn’t southern hospitality, I don’t know what is!

The floating bar fits in the corner of the porch in prime position for easy access to stay hydrated or for some liquid courage!

The porches are actually wide enough to accommodate our wedding ceremony should we need to move the seating from the lawn to the porches and turn down the plastic rain flaps (they are rolled up at the top near the fans).  You can also turn on the misters with the fans, and we were told it helps drop the temperature a solid 10 degrees on the porch – which we may actually need to do since I’m expecting a blistering summer day as we are getting married at 5:00 in the afternoon – It’s going to be HOT!

 I love chavari chairs… I just think they add so much flair to an otherwise boring area.  You get 125 of them with the venue rental along with 15 round tables for a seated dinner.  Thankfully we will only need 13 tables so it’s not going to be too crowded (we have to have room for the dance floor!) but you can always put some tables outside on the porch if you decided not too use them all inside.

I love the creek and the dock being in the background in the photo below, but Kevin and I weren’t crazy about the industrial cranes in the far distance showing up in all our wedding photos.  So we are actually going to be facing in the direction of the photo above with the tree and the creek in the background.

This is actually a photo from across the street where there’s a small pathway (see photos below) that will most likely be where the golf cart drops guests off to walk into the ceremony.  It was a cute little path… The photos I took don’t really do it justice, not to mention it was still just starting to warm up when I took those last April, so I’m just happy there’s some green in them!
